Volunteer Days

Kupenda organizes days at special needs boarding schools where parents and members of the community can volunteer their time. Volunteers typically assist the house parents with facility tasks such as washing dishes and feeding children who need help. They also assist with special projects like painting walls and building walkways for wheelchairs.  These volunteer days allow community members to get to know the children at school and develop compassion for them. Most of the children show great enthusiasm for the visitors and report to enjoy their interactions and the extra attention. The experience has inspired my participants to continue to volunteer at the schools or become community advocates for these children.
