“There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind.” ― C.S. Lewis
As we approach Thanksgiving, I am incredibly grateful to be a part of the work we do in Kenya. It is truly a blessing that you are all a part of.
So many children have had amazing transformations in body, soul and mind through our work. However, there are so many more that remain locked inside dark rooms, left to fend for themselves or have died never experiencing a loving human presence. In our 10 + years of official existence as an organization, we have lacked a vehicle that could get us to the children in these remote areas.
Our staff (physical therapists, social workers, teachers and directors) need to get to the families that are not easily reachable, by public transport or motorbike, to educate them on their children’s value and to get them appropriate medical and/or educational assistance. There aren’t ambulances or adequate health facilities nearby and many of these children are pretty fragile. It is important that we have a vehicle that is reliable since there is no one to call for assistance if it breaks down.
Currently, we are working with MATs International to acquire a vehicle that will meet our needs at a reasonable price since they purchase directly from the manufacturer. This organization exists to support nonprofit organizations working in developing countries to get appropriate vehicles. Currently, an SUV that can handle the rough roads and have appropriate modifications for wheelchair users is essential. The current cost estimate is around $60,000. This includes shipping costs and adjustments for accessibility.
This holiday season would you consider giving a gift towards this vehicle purchase and save lives?
